Ongoing Visibility
Three things: proof instead of promises (a live dashboard you can check anytime, not a monthly PDF you have to trust), no conflict of interest on ad spend if ad management is included (you own the ad account, the fee is flat, not a percentage of spend), and one accountable party instead of a dev shop, an SEO consultant, and a social media manager who don't talk to each other.
The questions worth asking a provider
Ask whether you get real-time access to rankings, AI citations, social activity, and ad performance, or only a report on a schedule. A live dashboard tells you immediately if something's not working; a monthly PDF tells you a month late. Ask who owns the ad account if ad management is part of the retainer, if the agency owns it and takes a percentage of spend, there's a built-in incentive to spend more of your money, not less.
And ask how many separate vendors are actually involved. "One partner, one number" isn't just convenience, it means one person is accountable for the whole picture instead of everyone pointing at everyone else when something underperforms.
Questions
A live dashboard instead of a monthly report, no conflict of interest on ad spend (a flat fee, not a percentage), and one accountable provider instead of several disconnected vendors.
If the provider owns the ad account and their fee scales with spend, there's an incentive to spend more of your budget. Owning your own account and paying a flat management fee removes that incentive.
